Her cold look, her sublime appearance and every move she makes announce that she wants to make each one of them a witness of how well she knows to deal with her slaves. Naked, the delinquent is raised at the stake and soon you can hear the whip’s hiss and the scream of fear, the lament and whimper of the martyred. And who are the judges that actually impose these punishments? The punishment happens at the whim and arbitrariness of the owner – not because they have done something wrong, but because it is impossible for them to pay a certain sum to me, for which they could buy their freedom.
